My Credentials & General Information

To tell you about myself and my services; I have been a Doula since 2006 and before that spent almost 20 years working in healthcare.

I am certified as both a Birth and as a Postpartum Doula.

As a Postpartum Doula, I do a prenatal or postnatal visit to meet you and your partner to fit your needs, and teaching and assisting infant care based on continual education. Providing emotional support is very important as you adjust to your new role as parents. I also provide mother care to help keep the household running smoothly. This may include simple meal prep.... As we discuss post birth plans, we also discuss availability, expectations and compatability.

My bookings are done on a week to week basis, unless after the first visit the family has a good idea of the schedule they want. It’s hard to be definite until the baby comes along.

You can also call me at anytime if you have any questions.

Working postpartum in your home, I also provide breastfeeding support and knowledge, finding community resources to fit your needs and teaching and assisting with infant care so you can get your rest and gain confidence. I provide up-to-date evidence based information, different techniques to try for feeding, baby holding and calming, and in general provide support to give you a break which all moms need, especially when the partner returns to work and mom's home by herself. This also includes simple meal prep and day today housekeeping/laundry. In other words I support the birth family to help make the transition easier.

Things I don't do are give medical advice or clean ovens.

I've worked with multiples, preemies, high needs babies and moms dealing with postpartum depression, recovering from a cesarean, and second time births with toddlers jockeying for position. I've also helped families who just want someone there to give them confidence, validation, adjustment and recovery time.

I do a minimum of 4 hour blocks with a minimum of 4 visits. More blocks can be scheduled according to the needs of the family depending on the new parent’s comfort adjustment. My rates are $20.00 per hour.

Payment accepted by cash or cheque only.

At the first initial visit - and it’s decided we plan to work together postpartum, - I ask for a deposit of $40.00 up front which is incorporated into the first 2 hours I work for you. If you don't call me postpartum because you’ve changed your mind and do not continue to hire me due to mother-in-law or grandma dropping in and not leaving, I keep the deposit for my time spent at the interview.

If by some chance I get sick or some unforeseen major event happens, I try to find a backup PPD or else give you a refund.
If you have any questions you can contact me here.
